I just got out of a two year relationship (I'm 23) and prior to and including that relationship, I had always been in a relationship, nearly non-stop.. So finally, after some serious realizations about how I lived my life and the dependency I burdened my ex-boyfriend with, I finally realize that it is okay to be single, and am just now starting to be okay with it, even if sometimes, part of me still craves that connection, but you're very right... The fact that I even still feel that way shows that I need more time alone.. I am very happy you wrote this.. I had invited my ex to a BBQ this weekend, and decided to tell him not to come, because of the awkward situations it may cause, and after I emailed him, I read this entry and became immensely more proud of myself that I decided on that course... Thank you again, I appreciated this. I first read it while I was still in a relationship, but now that it's over and all my friends are urging me to "go out and find someone new", I think of this article and politely tell them I don't think rushing right into another relationship is necessarily the best thing for me.
